Director of Bands And Tunes Activities Celebrates 30 Yrs At Texas A&M With A Unique Live performance

Director of Bands and Audio Actions Director Dr. Timothy Rhea will celebrate his 30th calendar year at Texas A&M University with a Texas A&M Wind Symphony Live performance on April 30 at 2 p.m. at Rudder Theater.

The concert will attribute tunes prepared and played by Affiliate Professor and Trombone Soloist David Wilborn alongside with items by Leonard Bernstein, Malcolm Arnold and Percy Grainger. Wilborn performs in Texas A&M’s College of General performance, Visualization and Great Arts. As a clinician and trombone soloist, he has introduced periods and performances at conference venues all over the United States, Puerto Rico and Europe.

Wilborn wrote a piece for the Wind Symphony that premiered at their 2008 Carnegie Corridor overall performance and the group will conduct the piece yet again April 30 featuring Wilborn on trombone.

In addition, the concert will aspect “Pines of Rome,” a tone poem in 4 actions by the Italian composer Ottorino Respighi.

“It will be an extraordinary musical practical experience,” Rhea explained. “All the songs is obtainable to the viewers. You will likely be singing the melodies extended following the overall performance.”

A Texas native, Rhea grew up in the music packages of Texas general public educational institutions. His time at Texas A&M started in 1993 as associate director of bands.

Throughout his time as conductor, the Wind Symphony has represented Texas A&M in sites these types of as Italy, Germany, Ireland, Austria, The Czech Republic, England and Carnegie Corridor in New York Town. In addition to conducting, Rhea maintains a profitable job as an arranger and composer. He has composed and arranged much more than 300 performs, with far more than 50 publications.
